Capturing Family Magic: The Irresistible Charm of Bluebell Mini Sessions

Each year I welcome back families in springtime which brings with it a burst of colors and the sweet fragrance of blooming bluebells. As a family photographer, I photograph your session in a magical setting that brings wonder and warmth - the bluebell woods.  Firstly, I wanted to share a personal story with you and why the location I shoot the bluebells in means so much to me before I go on to explain some of the key benefits of these sessions. If you're keen to book already then click on this link for more information:

My personal story and how the bluebells helped me find hope

It was late April 2020 and no need to remind you of what sort of a time that was, I was 6 months pregnant with my first child, we had just lost my more than amazing Grandad a few weeks before and hadn't been allowed to be with him and I'd now spent 2 weeks straight sitting in my house and garden, I hadn't even gone for my allocated 1 walk a day. Everything happening around me didn't make sense and I started to shut myself off from the world because having my first baby shouldn't feel like this, isolated, grieving and the unknown.

One day my husband came in from his walk around the woods and showed me some photos he'd taken of the bluebells. I couldn't believe this was on my doorstep and I'd not seen it (we moved here the previous year), suddenly hope sparked in and I just had to go and see these beautiful blue blooms. I walked on uneasy legs with excitement to the woods, the sun was just creeping behind the trees so it caused that gorgeous warm golden glow you get in spring across my face. Then in front of me, the most magnificent sight, I stopped and for the first time in a long time awe and wonder came to greet me. Suddenly I saw the beauty that was sitting silently outside my house walls and I found hope in the outside world, and I wanted to be a part of it again. Every day I went to visit the bluebells, every day I felt a little better, my belly grew and so did my optimism. I have a huge amount of thanks to those delicate little flowers and so that's the main reason I love capturing families in these carpets of joy. It really does run deep within me.

What are some direct benefits of these sessions for you?

The beauty of a mini session is that you can capture some gorgeous photographs in a splendour only seen once a year and try out your local photographers skills (hopefully that's me!) for any full family session photos you may want to use in the future.

**1. The Allure of Bluebell Blooms:

  • A sea of vibrant blue hues creating a breathtaking backdrop.

  • The magical atmosphere, where shafts of sunlight filter through the tall trees, casting a warm glow on the delicate flowers.

**2. Limited-Time Splendor:

  • The ephemeral nature of bluebell blooms come but for a short time each year.

  • Don't miss out on seizing this moment, it will be a unique and memorable experience for your family.

**3. Natural Beauty:

  • Hear the nature all around you as we have a relaxed session in the most harmonious colour palette that complements various outfits, making the photos visually stunning.

**4. Capturing Playful Moments:

  • The slowness of these sessions encourages families to relax and enjoy the moment, resulting in candid and authentic photographs.

  • Families are all about spontaneity, I'll be there to capture the tickles, giggles and wriggles.

  • I always encourage families to bring personal objects to their sessions, a book, teddy, what ever means something to your heart, bring it along!

**5. Versatility of Mini Sessions:

  • Mini sessions are great for families with busy schedules, providing an opportunity to capture beautiful moments without a significant time commitment (until you're ready for your full family sunset session one day of course!)

  • Mini sessions are cost-effective, making professional family photography more accessible to a broader audience.
